Polar Bear Plunge 2017
An unbelievably committed group of the Camp Fitch Bunch braved the coldest winds and the biggest waves we’ve ever seen in the 7 years of the Polar Bear Plunge to consummate their commitment to sending kids to Camp Fitch whose families can’t afford the fees. Doubling last year’s total for the third year in a row, the Plungers raised $90,123.69 which can provide a full campership to as many as 150 kids this summer.
The 7th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Camp Fitch was a lot things — successful, crazy, exhilarating, and a ton of fun — but the best part was getting together with so many of our friends who show such passion for what a week of Camp can do for a kid, and are willing to make sure that more kids from the NE Ohio and NW PA region can have this crucial growth experience.
By the number, the 7th Annual Polar Bear Plunge was comprised of 99 Plungers, the youngest of whom was 5 years old! We had 8 satellite plungers from as far away as the Bailiwick of Jersey, where Charlotte Angell plunged into the frigid waters of the English Channel! Of the 99 Plungers, 45 of them were first-timers, and we had two teams raise over $8,500 each! A whopping 35 Plungers raised enough to send one child to camp on a full campership — a really amazing accomplishment. We are overwhelmed by the support from our Plungers and our donors — a place and experience like Fitch really is a community effort and our community is second to none.
It’s all for the kids: our goal at Fitch is to get 372 kids here who, without our donors, would never get the experience or the growth. We’d love for you to join us.
