Spring Adventure for Kids
If you’re anything like us, you’ve already started counting the days for the start of summer 2017 — summer can’t come soon enough!. If that sounds familiar, keep reading!
Come to Camp Fitch after school on Friday, March 10th to get started on your weekend. Many of the staff members that you got to know this summer will be here to greet you and move you into our warm, modern buildings with built-in bathrooms. We’ll host a great evening program on Friday, and then get started with a full day of fun on Saturday. Enjoy the activities that you practiced this summer like archery, horseback riding, rock-climbing, making cool stuff, riflery, and great games. On Sunday, we’ll do even more of these activities before your parents come to pick you up.
For returning families, follow this link to your CampInTouch account and add the Spring Adventure Weekend to your child’s enrollment. If your child has never been to Camp Fitch before, use this link to complete a registration form with important information to help us care for your child.
To parents, rest assured that we will have plenty of our excellent summer staff at this event to care for your children. They will stay with your kids in the lodges and facilitate all of the activities during the day. Our Boys’ and Girls’ Camp Director, Steve DelCalzo and Kelly Poese will be on-site to lead the event. We’ll also have a registered nurse in residence for the whole weekend to dispense medication and respond to any improbable emergencies that may arise.
Where and When: Arrive by 7:00 on Friday, 10 March. Kids should be picked up by 10:30 am on Sunday after a hearty Camp breakfast. Transportation from the Davis Y in Youngstown is also available: call our registrar for details.
Living: Inside accommodation with live-in supervision from summer counseling staff.
Registration: Please call or email our registrar (877.863.4824) to register, or login to your CampInTouch account to sign up for the weekend. For a new camp family, follow this link to complete a camper registration.

Join a stalwart band of people who are passionate about the power that a week of summer camp has on kids: to develop their resilience and emotional intelligence, but also to grant them access to a community of love and acceptance. The 9th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Camp Fitch will be a lot things — crazy, exhilarating, and a ton of fun — but the primary outcome is to pave the road for kids to get a week-long summer camp experience who face many roadblocks that would otherwise stop them from having this crucial growth experience. The schedule of events on Plunge Day at Camp Fitch is:
9:45 am: Brunch in the Big Dining Hall
11:00 am: Games and crafts for kids
12:00 pm: Rubber Duck Regatta on the banks of Crooked Creek
2:00 pm: The Plunge on the shores of Lake Erie
2:45 pm: Post-Plunge Party in the Big Dining Hall
3:30 pm: Awards Ceremony
6:00 pm: Euchre Tournament, Camp Fire, Jam Session in the Little Dining Hall
We welcome plungers of all ages: our youngest plunger is 7, and we’ve had plungers over 70 fundraise and Take a Dunk to Fill a Bunk. The metaphor is apt: jumping into frigid water takes a lot of courage and faith — just like coming to summer camp where you don’t know anyone. Just as plungers report the event as being exhilarating, and even cleansing, the kids who receive the gift of camp also describe their experience similarly: the deep thrill of making a close friendship, the satisfaction of overcoming fears and seeing themselves as stronger, more capable.
