Young(ish) Alumni Work Weekend
Come hang out North of the Tracks for YAWW on the weekend of 14, 15 and 16 Oct! Enjoy a fall weekend at your old stomping grounds to see the fall foliage in full color and help us convert our newest property acquisition into our Lake Erie boathouse! As our fleet has grown steadily, our ability to store our new Hobie sailboats, paddleboards, and jet-skis has not grown at all and while the cottage is probably not worth upgrading to a livable space, the 24′ x 24′ building has a good roof, walls, and is in the perfect location to support our growing Lake Erie programs. The jobs we’d like to get accomplished during the Young Alumni Work Weekend are:
- strip and paint the cottage,
- remove the interior walls,
- frame in a wider door that allows easy boat access,
- build a ramp from ground to floor level,
- install some split-rail fence along our new property line,
- clear downed trees,
- clean up the property.
Piece of cake, right? Many hands make light work, and all alumni, their friends and families are invited to this weekend-long event where we can make a meaningful contribution to our great camp.
Where and When: Arrive anytime on Friday, 14 Oct, and the work will start at 9:00 am on Saturday after a hearty Camp breakfast. With a list of jobs this long, we’ll plan to beaver away on Sunday as well.
Living: Inside accommodation in Mitchell Lodge and Kuchel Cottage is available, and lots of folks enjoy outdoor living in The Square.
Registration: Please register below so we can prepare food and lodging. We pick up the tab for the weekend lodging, meals, sunsets, crisp fall air, and connecting with great friends! A commemorative T-shirt will be available for only $15 (such a deal!), please let us know if you’d like one in the registration form.
